This morning we had a nice Noctilucent Cloud event. The show started just after 3:00am. The cameras make it look like broad daylight,
but it was actually still pitch dark.
Sunrise this morning was at 5:14am.
These clouds are roughly 50 miles up and are only visible about 3 weeks
either side of the summer solstice. They
are also fairly rare for us because typically they are only visible between 50
and 70 degrees latitude. We are slightly
under 48 degrees.
If you are interested in seeing them, you have to get up early or stay up late. They can be seen after sunset starting around 10:45 or before sunrise around 3:00am.
